Ruger single-action with an engraved cylinder filled in to make the design stand out

Ruger Custom With Extreme Cylinder Backfill

This Ruger single-action “really needed some beautification” when it arrived. Tom stripped it down and completely remade the whole revolver in Burnt Bronze and Graphite Black Cerakote.

But the standout detail is the cylinder. Tom backfilled its engraving, and now you can finally read the extremely tiny engravings that were nearly invisible before. The filled lettering pops against the coated cylinder, turning a hard-to-see factory marking into a feature.

Backfilling small engraving is meticulous. The color has to settle into the shallow cuts, then the surface gets cleaned without pulling the fill out of the letters. On tiny text, a single slip can blur the whole word.

Burnt Bronze and Graphite Black is a warm, rich pairing that suits the classic cowboy lines of a single-action. The result looks like a modern custom piece while keeping the revolver’s traditional character. Have an old wheel gun that needs a refresh? Give Tom a ring at 937-550-1119.
