AR9 with a torn and tattered American flag finish in grey tones

Custom AR 9 in a tattered Flag Theme

This AR9 got a torn and tattered American flag, matching a custom 1911 we did for the same owner. It’s done in Sniper Grey and Crushed Silver.

The tattered flag has ragged edges and worn spots, like a flag that’s flown through storms. Grey and silver keep it subdued, a nice change from bright red, white and blue.

Tom noted that sometimes “it’s nice to step away from the norm,” and this flag does that. The torn edges add character. Making a flag look weathered without looking sloppy is tricky. Each tear and frayed edge has to be planned in the stencil so the damage looks natural, not random. Grey and silver also tie the rifle back to the owner’s 1911, so the pair look like they belong together on the bench or at the range. Matching sets like this are a fun way to tie a collection together.

This thing turned out just as nice as his custom 1911 we did that you can see here.
Its done in Sniper Gray and Crushed Silver Cerakote.
Sometimes its nice to step away from the norm of red white and blue and grab a different color scheme. If you have any ideas about a new color scheme for an old design lets give it a try.
