Making A New Revolver Look Old And Rusted
A customer brought us a brand new revolver and asked if we could make it look like it had been dug up after being buried for years. This is what we came up with.
All done in Cerakote, the revolver has an aged, rusty look, with mottled browns and darker spots across the frame and cylinder. The trick is making artificial rust look random and believable.
Doing this with Cerakote rather than real rust means the gun is protected underneath. You get the antique look without actual corrosion. Look closely and you’ll find lighter worn spots where hands would grip, darker grime in the corners, and uneven patches that sell the story of a gun forgotten underground. It looks like a relic, but underneath it’s a brand new revolver ready to shoot.

We were brought a brand new revolver and asked if we could make it look like it was just dug up out of the ground after being buried for years.
And This is pretty much what we came up with. All done in Cerakote we attempted to make this revolver look old and rusted and show years and years of wear. This one took quite a bit of thought and work because we are usually working to make an old rusted up gun look brand new again … This time we had to reverse our thinking and I think it turned out pretty unique….
