Every time Tom applies our custom holographic coating, he says he likes it a little more. This time it went over a custom-mix grey and pink AR-15. He noted that the holographic layer adds a slight grey hue over whatever it covers, so the base colors were mixed with that in mind. The pink was…
This customer brought in a photo and asked if we could match the design and colors to his newly purchased Desert Eagle. The result was an earth-tone brown camo that Tom said was “a complete hit with the customer.” Matching from a photo is its own challenge. Colors shift on screens and prints, so Tom…
One customer’s Harley derby cover, shaped like a skull, was polished and didn’t match his bike. His motorcycle wore a custom candy blue and yellow paint job, and he wanted the cover to match. Here’s the catch: Cerakote doesn’t make candy colors. Tom had to get creative with layering to imitate that deep, glossy candy…
The American Gun Chick contacted us for a special custom left-handed AR-15, and she had a few requests. The main one? “It had to sparkle.” The rifle wears black with pink accent parts, and the sparkle makes it shine under any light. Left-handed ARs have mirrored controls and ejection, so the layout of colors had…
We were asked to recreate Deadpool’s gun, but on a Glock. Deadpool was the big thing at the time, and when a customer walked in with the idea, Tom took it on. The pistol wears a weathered red-and-black finish, with the Deadpool logo, “Deadpool’s Gun” in script and, yes, “Chimichanga” lettered on it, a nod…
A local manufacturer asked us to customize welding hoods, and Tom admits it was quite the challenge. “Yes, sometimes we even fail,” he wrote, but after several attempts, “this round hit it out of the park.” The three finished hoods come in blue, purple and silver custom finishes, each with its own look. The curved…
This customer wanted something that would wrap from one side of the slide to the other. He’d drawn the idea on a piece of paper, and Tom made it real. The Glock wears a tan base with a blue line that wraps across the slide, flowing from one side over the top to the other,…
Taking this Spikes Tactical Warthog lower to a brand new look, Tom coated it to resemble an old aircraft. But that wasn’t enough. The Warthog logo on the receiver was hand coated in Cerakote to give it what Tom called “that special kickin’ look it deserved.” The receiver itself is olive drab with shark-mouth nose…
This Smith & Wesson 1911 came in needing serious help. The before photo shows a finish in pretty poor condition, worn and patchy. Tom took his time, cleaned it up, stripped the old worn finish and gave it new life in Cerakote Graphite Black. The after shot shows a smooth, even black that makes the…
This Glock 17 MOS got custom porting and a fresh Cerakote burnt bronze finish. Then Tom engraved the top of the slide and backfilled it with black. The burnt bronze slide sits over a black frame, and the ports cut into the slide show off the barrel underneath. Tom wrote that “the slide ports alone…
